Expose only the needed blade
Use the minimum practical blade extension and check that the slider holds before cutting. A lock does not make an exposed blade safe to touch.
Support the material
Use an appropriate cutting surface, keep the supporting hand out of the cutting path and cut away from the body. Do not twist or use the blade as a pry bar.
Retract before putting it down
Retract fully after each task and store securely. Follow the tool instructions and a suitable sharps-handling procedure for worn or damaged segments.
